It was cold on the pier waiting for the light to get just right. It was like being out in the bay at the end of the pier. The light and the tide were changing so fast! I thought it might be a bright sunset, however, it turned into a gentle glow. Still beautiful to capture on this Maine Plein Air Oil Painting! -
This coffee pot is painted from a set up inside the Maine cabin with the light streaming through the window. It’s fun to bring the fall colors in to paint from. Still life painting is more controlled than plein air painting where the light is constantly changing and the weather is unpredictable. -

Today on the line are towels that are going to smell of the ocean breeze. The fluttering of the linen leads us to the small garden gate that is sometimes missed, tucked in amongst the briar roses. You can almost feel the wind on your face when you stare at this Maine plein air oil painting. -
To live here in Maine, one must think, “I must have a boat.” The freedom of the open wind and water in a craft plunging through the water steered by a spirit moved by the love of naked nature. The bottom of the stair case to the water is made of solid granite. The small house becomes part of the landscape tucked in among the tall pines. I stood in the beauty of Maine and painted this scene in plein-air. -
